Welcome to Dance Week, April 25-29!

We at DanceNL are very excited about our upcoming events this week. Here is a quick rundown of what we have in store across the province.

DARE TO DANCE: Take 5 minutes out of your day. Boogie in the backyard. Do the lancers in your living room. Salsa with your sweetie. Do the cha cha with your children. Twirl, leap and spin for 5 minutes on Friday to celebrate dance in all its forms.

RANDOM ACTS OF DANCE: Keep you eyes peeled for dancers all over the place! St. John’s and Corner Brook will be treated to spontaneous bellydance, tap, jazz, contemporary and tango performances all week, just to name a few.

FLASH MOB: St. John’s, Gander, Grand Falls-Windsor and Corner Brook will be flash-mobbed at some point during the week. We can’t tell you any more than this, but you’ll know it when you see it!

OTHER EVENTS: DanceNL has partnered with other associations to create some amazing events this week. Here’s the scoop:
• NL Folk Arts Society Folk Night, April 27 – Daniel Payne is the guest, and there will be dancing during his set!
• St. John’s libraries (adult and children’s, Arts and Culture Centre) are featuring a display of dance books all week.
• Ferriss Hodgett Library, Grenfell Campus Memorial, will feature a dance book display all week.
• Neighbourhood Dance Works is presenting the 605 Collective at the LSPU Hall

Thanks to the City of St. John’s for helping to sponsor the St. John’s flash mob, to the MMaP research centre for providing rehearsal space in St. John’s. Mostly, thanks to the wonderful dancers across the province who are coming out to dance this week!
