NL Moves September

Coming Up – Saturday, September 29th – 2PM at the Rooms

DanceNL is proud to present our first NL Moves of the season – all are welcome to participate in this Free Flamenco Workshop with Christina Penney.

Introduction to Flamenco: traditional dance from southern Spain

Workshop Description: In the south of Spain, people grow up learning how to dance “por Fiesta”, which happens at gatherings and parties where people of all ages come together to celebrate with singing, dancing and music. In this workshop, dancers will be introduced to dancing “Tangos por Fiesta”, which is a fun style with a very lively rhythm, and one of the essential ingredients to any flamenco fiesta! Wear comfortable clothing and join us at 2 PM on Saturday September 29th at the Rooms! All are welcome.

NL Moves is a series of workshops by DanceNL  designed to expose the general public to many different dance genres while promoting wellness and physical activity. NL Moves workshops are led by DanceNL members and highlight some of the amazing work and skills of the dancers and movers of the province. NL Moves workshops are happening every month throughout Newfoundland until May, 2013. Stay tuned for details on Sandra Blackmore’s Ballet Workshop – taking place in Cornerbrook on October 7th.

I am very happy to be back on board with DanceNL as Project Administrator and am excited to be applying what I know to working for dance. The dance world has always been a warm and welcoming place for me and I love the experience of collaborating with dancers and being a part of this bright and growing community. I am looking forward to working for members on DanceNL’s many upcoming programs, projects and special events. Please don’t hesitate to contact me anytime with questions, feedback or ideas – I am at your service. info@dancenl.ca
