DANCE WEEK: WEDNESDAY!

How better to get over the work-week hump than by doing a little dance?

This morning, on the CBC Central Morning Show, Melissa Tobin took us to Eastport where some students learned to square dance as part of our Dare to Dance challenge!

Wednesday’s Dance Ambassador is beloved musician Jim Payne, who has made a gorgeous video for us!

Yesterday, On the Go played Hear/Say’s “Love Collided” – the 4th most danceable song in Newfoundland and Labrador. Tune in at 4pm to find out who’s number 3!

Keep an eye out for Random Acts of Dance… and if you happen to be in Grand Falls today, you miiiight want to get a coffee at the Jumping Bean… around 3:30pm. Just sayin.

And tonight in St. John’s, we’re taking over Folk Night at the Ship with the folk dances of the warmer parts of the world. Come down and we’ll warm you up!

DANCE WEEK: TUESDAY!

Happy International Dance Day, everyone!

To celebrate this special day, we have two dance ambassadors on the roster: Kate Cornell, Executive Director of the Canadian Dance Assembly, and Christopher House, Artistic Director of Toronto Dance Theatre!

Speaking of the CDA, they have a beautiful International Dance Day message from Santee Smith. And the International Theatre Institute have made a gorgeous video for their Dance Day message, written by Mourad Merzouki.

Schools around the province are dancing today as part of our Dare to Dance initiative! Keep an eye to the internet for updates… or you might hear us on the radio!

Yesterday, On the Go played the fourth runner-up for Most Danceable Song: Beautiful Vegan Girl by Neil Conway!

Random Acts of Dance are rolling in! People are dancing in Corner Brook, in St. John’s… even at City Council! Keep it coming – we are loving the videos!

We’re in the Telegram today, thanks to Arts Reporter Tara Bradbury – check out that article here.

Tonight, the Town of Grand Falls-Windsor will be proclaiming Dance Week to its citizens. Thanks to the young dancers who will be representing the dance community at that proclamation!

We’re gearing up for Folk Dance Night at the Ship tomorrow… and don’t forget to check out the full write-up for an event near you!

PS: Don’t forget – if you can track down one of each of our Dance Week postcards, we’ll enter you in a draw for an awesome prize! Details here.

DANCE WEEK: MONDAY!

It’s Dance Week!

We’re off to a great start, with Dance Ambassador Dave Lane telling us why he loves dance.

DanceNL President Kristin Harris Walsh was on the CBC Central Morning Show this morning to kick it off, and she and Project Administrator Sharon King-Campbell will be in to chat with Ted Blades on On the Go later this afternoon – keep an ear out!

Stay tuned to our social media channels as well – we’ll be posting a dance scene from a famous movie every day at 1pm to get you over the just-eaten-lunch hump.

Later today, the City of St. John’s is proclaiming this week Dance Week, so tune in to Rogers at 9pm to see us rock City Hall!

Be excited! We have all kinds of amazing things happening between now and Sunday! Check out the whole plan here, and don’t forget to collect all 3 postcards and send us a picture for a chance to win an awesome prize!
