DanceNL is proud to partner with Let’s Dance and the Eastern Labrador Arts Alliance to present an NL Moves workshop, Jazz Hands: A Choreography Boot Camp, with Corie Harnett.
The workshop will lead dancers through a warm up, learning the moves of a flashy and upbeat choreography, and a cool down to finish. By the end of this boot camp experience, participants will have learned a short routine in the style of 80’s jazz dance. Participants should wear comfortable clothing and footwear with non-marking soles, and should bring a bottle of water. 80’s-inspired costumes (think Fame!) are encouraged.
Corie Harnett is a versatile dancer, choreographer and expressive arts facilitator. She has explored a wide array of movement forms and dance traditions. Corie has worked with a variety of populations, skilfully adapting and instructing movement for dancers of various abilities and experience levels.
This workshop is funded, in part, by a grant from the Labrador Regional Wellness Coalition.
NL Moves is a workshop series by DanceNL designed to expose the general public to many different dance genres while promoting wellness and physical activity. NL Moves workshops are led by DanceNL members and highlight some of the amazing work and skills of the dancers and movers of the province.
DanceNL is Newfoundland and Labrador’s sectoral dance association. Incorporated in 2010, DanceNL works to forge connections between dance professionals and enthusiasts across Newfoundland and Labrador, generating programs and initiatives and promoting and gaining recognition for the province’s rich, varied and vibrant dance scene.
