Kittiwake Dance Theatre

Calla Lachance | As an artist, Lachance honed her craft at the School of Toronto Dance Theatre, Studio 303, and LADMMI in Montreal, followed by somatic training in Contact Improvisation and Authentic Movement in Plainfield, Mass. Later, she earned an undergraduate and Master’s degree from York University, as well as certification from George Brown College as an Intervenor for Persons who are Deaf-Blind. Lachance’s educational journey has been enriched by a deep study of Contact Improvisation. This exploration, coupled with studies alongside Alito Alessi of Eugene, Oregon, in Mixed-Ability dance, has fueled her passion for interdisciplinary collaboration across communities of artists and creative realms. She is the former Artistic Director of Neighbourhood Dance Theatre and Festival of New Dance (2008-2015), the current Executive Director at Kittiwake Dance Theatre (2022-present), and a founding member of DanceNL.
