Hilary Knee is a dance artist based in Newfoundland, Canada. Hilary studied contemporary dance at The School of Toronto Dance Theatre. Upon graduation from The School’s Professional Training Program in 2016, she was awarded the Sharon Moore Solo Project in which Moore choreographed two solos for Knee’s repertoire.
Hilary has performed at various dance festivals across Ontario and Atlantic Canada. Knee danced in JDdance’s production, “IN ABSENTIA”, a full-length work created and directed by Sharon B. Moore, presented by DanceWorks (Toronto). Since returning to Newfoundland and Labrador Hilary joined creative forces with Candice Pike and Josh Murphy. Together, they are developing “Ruralesque”, an intersection of contemporary dance, burlesque, and Newfoundland culture.
Recently Hilary has devoted much of her artistic practice to choreography and is currently in creation for a multidisciplinary work in collaboration with vocalist Geri Hollett. The work, “Of the Earth, Propelling Forward”, will premiere at Corner Brook’s CB Nuit event September 2021. Hilary is also one of the performers featured in the second instalment of Opera on the Avalon’s “The Rock Performs” series.
Knee continues to build her solo repertoire and is working towards producing an evening of solo dance.
