A Community Network

The origins of DanceNL evolved from discussions and a “Think Tank” among the province’s dance industry network to generate capacity for post-secondary dance training. The Dance Teachers Association of NL (DTAN), NL’s premiere ballet company, Kittiwake Dance Theatre (KDT), and Neighbourhood Dance Works (NDW) each have 30+ years’ history creating dance but felt a separate organization was needed to undertake sectoral development to promote and advocate the importance of dance in our cultures.

These organizations continue to meet to with DanceNL to inform on trends and partner in projects that celebrate the beauty and importance of dance in our province.

DanceNL also enjoys a partnership with the NL Folk Arts Society hosting the Festival’s Dance Tent and Dance Breaks celebrating a shared interest to preserve Newfoundland and Labrador traditional cultures.
